What does it mean to be Director, Internal Audit with GLS?

The Director, Internal Audit is responsible for the management, execution, and development of the Internal Audit program. This position works collaboratively with business partners to drive improvement in risk management and controls across the Company.  The Director will manage the Internal Audit program and audit team to ensure that Internal Audit effectively and efficiently assesses the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management and internal controls across the organization.  The Director will identify opportunities for improvement and communicate the results to management, the Enterprise Risk Committee, and the Board.


How will you drive value within the organization?

  • Manage and continuously develop the Internal Audit department to meet the needs of a high-growth organization
  • Assess the Company’s Audit Universe, Risk Assessment framework and Audit Plan to identify opportunities to add value to GLS in a cost-effective manner
  • Coordinate with Legal and Compliance to develop and maintain expertise in existing and future legal and regulatory requirements
  • Work collaboratively with management to identify risks and concerns within each department to develop and document audit procedures and testing that are aligned with those risks and concerns
  • Prepare and issue audit reports to management, the Enterprise Risk Committee, and the Board
  • Track and report audit issues and related remediation plans
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to the Audit team
  • Exercise management authority concerning staffing, performance evaluations, promotions, salary recommendations, and terminations
  • Set and drive departmental goals and develop and maintain employee work schedules that effectively meet the Company’s needs


What should you already know to be successful in this role? 

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree required; CIA, CISA or CISSP qualification(s) preferred
  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience working in an internal audit role preferred
  • Strong knowledge of auto finance industry and operations preferred
  • Intrinsically motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify needs, make recommendations for improvement, see recommendations through implementation, and evaluate improvements for effectiveness  
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills:  friendly and tactful with the ability to influence others, effectively manage conflict, exercise sound judgment, effectively manage highly sensitive and confidential information, interact at all levels within the organization, and build cross-functional partnerships across the business
  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and demonstrated ability to set and manage multiple conflicting priorities

Employment Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • This is an exempt level position whereby business need will dictate the exact work schedule, which should be expected to vary at times.  Generally, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00am-6:00pm
  • Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand
