What does it mean to be an Inside Sales/Credit Manager with GLS?

Tremendous opportunity to influence the growth of an outstanding company – GLS is seeking a top tier talent to serve as a Inside Sales/Credit Manager. The role will report to the Director, Buying and operate from our Greenville, SC office.


How will you drive value within the organization?

  • Act in a buying capacity to ensure service levels of the team, including communicating credit decisions to the dealer partners within the timeline prescribed and working with the dealer representative to provide a deal structure that is acceptable to all parties
  • Set departmental goals and develop and maintain a daily employee work schedule that effectively meets the needs of the business unit, company, and customer
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead a team - provide quality training, guidance, performance coaching and feedback to assigned staff
  • Run daily reports to optimize workflow efficiency; ensure team meets service level expectations of internal and external customers’
  • Monitor performance of assigned staff against prescribed metrics using appropriate departmental reports
  • Develop and maintain positive business relationships with dealers through conversations and solicitations; providing exceptional customer service, effective and timely communications, and respond to credit processing questions and inquiries
  • Maintain electronic records and files
  • Foster a collaborative culture that facilitates the achievement of business plan objectives by working closely with other associates and members of management
  • Participate in special projects as needed
  • Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed by management


What should you already know to be successful in this role? 

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree required. Internal candidates at the Specialist (S1) with commensurate experience and a track record of sustained, top performance against company standards may be considered
  • Experience in an auto finance operational role or auto industry experience preferred
  • People management experience strongly preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of credit-related laws, consumer lending/underwriting concepts, practices and procedures strongly preferred
  • Excellent sales skills with an ability to think quickly in a dynamic environment to overcome resistance
  • Ability to solve problems under pressure and provide creative solutions when necessary
  • Intrinsically motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify needs, make recommendations for improvement, see recommendations through implementation, and evaluate improvements for effectiveness 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills: friendly and tactful with the ability to influence others, effectively manage conflict, exercise sound judgment, effectively manage highly sensitive and confidential information, interact at all levels within the organization, and build cross-functional partnerships across the business
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Team player that can adapt in a fast pace and changing environment
  • Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of internet and standard business applications such as Microsoft Office; ability to quickly learn new computer applications as required 
  • Commitment to exemplifying the organizational core values and key competencies
  • Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and demonstrated ability to effectively set and manage multiple conflicting priorities

Employment Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • This is an exempt level position whereby business need will dictate the exact work schedule which should be expected to vary at times. Generally, the schedule will be Monday through Friday 9-6 or 10-7 and every other Saturday
  • Physical Requirements: Remain in a stationary position up to 100% of the work day
