This is an incredible opportunity to take a leadership role in the growing area of Consumer Lending/Auto Finance! GLS is seeking a Senior Manager of Buying to effectively build and manage profitable teams within the Buying department.

What will you do each day to ensure success?
  • Maintain a departmental structure sufficient to meet organizational goals and objectives
  • Create a highly engaging work environment to attract, develop and retain talent
  • Monitor productivity of assigned staff, quality of customer interactions and other appropriate metrics to ensure performance expectations are achieved; providing meaningful and timely performance coaching and feedback as necessary  
  • Exercise management authority concerning staffing, performance evaluations, promotions, salary recommendations, and terminations
  • Oversee the maintenance of a daily employee work schedule that effectively meets the needs of the company and dealer customers
  • Act in full buying capacity to manage Buying Managers’ queues during all scheduled and unscheduled absences
  • Establish and track monthly purchase objectives for assigned dealers
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management
What should you already know to be successful in this role?
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics or a related field required 
  • Minimum 3 years’ management experience required
  • Prior auto finance operations and/or auto industry experience required
  • Thorough knowledge of credit-related laws, consumer lending/underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and effectively manage and work within a team
  • Must have professional and persuasive communication and negotiation skills with the ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent sales skills; ability to think quickly in a dynamic environment and successfully overcome resistance
  • Ability to solve problems under pressure and provide creative solutions when necessary
  • Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of internet and standard business applications such as Microsoft Office; Ability to quickly learn new computer applications as required

  • Must be able to pass criminal background check
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an 8-hour work shift
  • Frequently communicates with fellow associates, members of management and external customers.  Must be able to clearly express oneself and exchange accurate information in these situations
  • Constant operation of a computer and other office equipment 
Schedule 
  • This position is full-time, requiring schedule flexibility to include evenings and Saturdays as scheduled to meet the needs of the company.
